A quick introduction to podcast series based on The Shadow Balance: The Technology Leader’s Guide to the Hidden Costs and Risks of AI. You can listen to the podcast here.
“There are always people who are wary of change. And that’s a good thing. Change should be watched, moderated, and questioned. But that conservative view shouldn’t rein in progress or put a damper on hope.” James S.A. Corey, The Expanse.
I thought I should introduce why I created the The Shadow Balance podcast series. I want everyone I know to know about the costs and risks. And many of my friends have shared that they’re never going to read my book, The Shadow Balance. They’re just not readers.
But they have promised to listen to it! So, to eliminate the barrier of having to read something, I’ve recorded the book’s contents.
It turns out audiobooks require a really, really high degree of production perfection. I didn’t have the inclination to hire a voice actor or production studio to create an audiobook. I also thought using an AI substitute would lend a degree of polish that made this content seem fake.
Instead, as part of the proofreading exercise, I recorded my book aloud in my office as I proofread it. The subsequent recordings are absolutely filled with errors, weird pauses and are 100% authentic.
I’ll publish transcripts of the pocast episodes here as they’re published.
In the first episode of The Shadow Balance Podcast, I read the introduction, conclusion and explain the epigraphs.
